When snow or freezing temperatures arrive, Vancouver property owners and occupants are responsible for clearing snow and ice from the full width of the sidewalk in front of their property. Corner properties are also responsible for the sidewalk alongside their property.
Sidewalks must be cleared by 10:00 a.m. each day.
Failure to clear the required sidewalk may result in fines. The City of Vancouver currently lists a $250 fine, which may increase to $750 when snow and ice remains for more than 24 hours.
